Oolong Earl Grey
Our Oolong Earl Grey tea is grown by a fourth-generation, family-owned and operated farm in rural Taiwan. This tea is organically grown using traditional and sustainable farming practices.
Locally grown organic bergamot fruit from a neighbor’s relative is cut, grated and dried using time-honored traditions. The dried fruit pieces are then added to a select lot of organic Oolong tea that has been lightly baked to bring out its creamy sweetness. A light sprinkling of essence enhances the citrus freshness of the bergamot fruit pieces. This meticulous process results in a balance of all the flavor elements, leaving room for the tea and the Bergamot fruit to express themselves individually.
Your friends will be pleased with an introduction to this Earl at your next tea party!
Golden Blossoms Ginger
Imagine… chamomile dreaming of ginger on a bed of rose petals; that is the essence of this tea. Whole chamomile flowers are hand-harvested from a farm in Greece. We combine them with our rose petals from Kashmir, India and ginger from Sikkim, India.
The apple-like essence of chamomile and delicate floral essence of rose balances with the warmth and spiciness of the ginger. This caffeine-free ‘liquid gold’ will tantalize your senses and induce a sense of calmness and relaxation.
Genmaicha
Genmaicha is known in Japan as the “people’s tea” because it was created as a blend of green tea and toasted brown rice to make it more affordable. One origin story of Genmaicha is that a Samurai’s servant accidentally dropped grains of brown rice in his master’s tea and the Samurai loved it. Others think that it was a frugal 15th century housewife that wanted to make her tea stretch. Happy accident or not, we love this tea for its sweet toasty aroma.
Genmaicha has a mild botanical taste and very low caffeine content, which makes it drinkable any time of the day. Japanese Buddhist monks drink it after periods of fasting because it is loaded with nutrients and antioxidants, yet is gentle on the stomach. Our Genmaicha is blended at a small 8th generation family farm near Kyoto using organically grown Bancha and a high-grade roasted rice. After drinking this wonderful tea, our favorite thing to do is munch on the leftover roasted rice. Consider it a combo drink and snack!
Assam Black Tea
The region of Assam in hilly Northeastern India is one of the largest tea growing areas in the world. The black tea from Assam - which gets its color and flavor from a fermentation process - is known for its rich, malty flavor and rich dark color. Tea is the second most consumed drink in the world after water, so our challenge was to find a high-quality version of a commercial grade product sold in vast quantities.
Our premium Assam tea is organically grown at a 6th generation estate in heritage gardens that are over 100 years old. It is grown from authentic Camellia sinensis, varietal assamica (SFTGFOP1 grade for you tea geeks) plants and carefully fermented by skilled multi-generational “roasters”. The result is a robust flavor with that characteristic maltiness and rich color that tastes nothing like a commercial-grade black tea bag. Fair warning, once you taste our Assam black tea, you may be dissuaded from buying a prepared cup of tea at coffee shops.
Assam tea is considered to have the important health benefits of promoting brain health and supporting immune function. We love to drink it every day because it tastes great and makes us feel good!
