Bay leaves are the aromatic leaves of the bay laurel tree and are excellent to add a botanical note to rice pilaf, soups, stews, and sauces. Drying them intensifies their aroma and produces enhanced notes of thyme and eucalyptus. They are considered to be a home remedy for upset stomachs and also offer immune support. We love them for their savory herbaceousness.
Zaica’s Bay Leaves are grown in Malla Sati Naugaon - a pristine mountainous area in the Himalayas - by a women’s collective that supports around 3,000 mountain families. The soil in this area is nutrient-rich and the Bay Leaf Trees are grown in organic, rainfed soils using traditional methods indigenous to this area.
