Zaica’s Black Mustard Seeds (a.k.a. Rai) are naturally cultivated in Tipolla - a pristine mountainous area in the Himalayas - by a women’s collective that supports around 3,000 mountain families. Black mustard seeds are nutrient-dense, providing antioxidants, anti-inflammatory compounds, Glucosinolates, Omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, selenium, and zinc. Ok, that’s a lot but given the tiny size of these powerhouse seeds, it’s a lot of bang for your buck!
Black mustard seeds are the most pungent variety (as compared to yellow and brown mustard seeds) and are in the same family as wasabi and horseradish. Chewing a few of these seeds is a great way to clear your sinuses! And they make a wonderfully pungent addition to curries, lentils and pickles.
