Our Kerala Black Tea is grown in the Idukki Hills of the Western Ghats of India in the state of Kerala - a.k.a. "God's Own Country," "Spice Garden of India," and "Land of Coconuts".  Our tea is grown and processed at a small family farm, whose founders believe that “the richness of food originates from the soil.”  This talented and caring husband and wife team maintain a symbiotic relationship with their plants and environment to grow tea plants naturally and sustainably.  They use a “spiritual” farming approach, where the plants are nourished with fertilizer from their heritage breed cows and no chemical anything is ever used.

Zaica’s Kerala Black Tea is freshly processed at the mini tea factory on the estate using carefully selected “two leaves and a bud” to produce long tea leaves that brew a brisk cuppa with a citrusy and floral aroma.  As the English poet William Cowper said, "Variety's the very spice of life, That gives it all its flavor."  We love to drink this tea as a contrasting flavor to our Assam and Darjeeling Black teas and the unique terroir of its origin makes it a pleasure to sip!
