Mace

You may not be able to hit someone on the head with Zaica’s Mace spice but it certainly packs a flavor punch! It is known as “nutmeg’s sister” because it is the outer covering (aril) of the nutmeg fruit. Mace has historically been used in Indian curries and kebabs as a milder and sweeter version of nutmeg, and is also used in African and Caribbean cuisines. Try using it in your pumpkin pie for a more complex flavor and be prepared for a revelation when you add it to your mashed potatoes.

Zaica’s nutmeg trees are organically cultivated in the high ranges of Idduki, Kerala, located in the heart of the Western Ghats of India. The fruit is tree-ripened and hand-picked with care at peak harvest times, from which the nutmeg and mace are extracted and kept whole to maintain their beautiful hues and wonderfully pungent aroma.
